Pickleball in Paradise

In partnership with the Caribbean Pickleball Federation, Cliff Villa has built the first professional Pickleball court on the island.

Pickleball Rules

  • Serve: The serve must be made underhand, and the server must keep one foot behind the back boundary line (baseline) during the serve. The ball must be served diagonally across the net to the opponent's service court.

  • Double Bounce Rule: After the serve, each team must allow the ball to bounce once on their side before they can start volleys (hitting the ball before it bounces). After the initial bounce, players can volley the ball in the air.

  • Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen - light blue area): Players cannot volley the ball while standing within the non-volley zone, which extends 7 feet from the net on each side. However, they can enter the non-volley zone to play a ball that has bounced.

  • Faults: Common faults include not clearing the net on the serve, stepping into the non-volley zone during a volley, volleying before the ball has bounced, and hitting the ball out of bounds.

  • Serve Rotation: In doubles, both players on a team have the opportunity to serve, and the server must switch sides after winning a point.

  • Fault Serve: If the server faults, the opposing team gains the serve, but the serving team retains their score.

  • Let Serve: If the served ball touches the net and lands in the proper service court, it's called a "let," and the server gets another opportunity to serve.

  • Scoring: Games are played to 11 points, and a team must win by two points. Only the serving team can score points, and they will continue to do so until they commit a fault.

Swimming

An Olympic size swimming pool is 50 meters. One lap in our pool is nearly 40 meters (38.5 meters or 126 feet). 20 laps is 3/4 of a kilometre or half a mile. The pool is designed for lane swimming.

Champion swimmers never had a better view :)

You can finish with an ab workout on the deck of the pool

Bocce

Dating back to 1753 in Italy, bocce, is plural of the Italian word boccia which means 'bowl'. We have a championship beach court in the garden. You can play raffa, boule lyonnaise or petanque. Enjoy

Rules:

  1. Objective: The goal is to throw your bocce balls closer to the pallino than your opponents.

  2. Taking Turns: Teams alternate throwing their bocce balls toward the pallino, trying to get as close as possible or knock the opponent's balls away.

  3. Scoring: After all balls are thrown, points are awarded. Only one team scores per frame (the round of throws), earning one point for each ball closer to the pallino than the closest ball of the opposing team. The game continues until a predetermined number of points is reached, commonly 12, 15, or 21.

Jogging

Cliff Villa to Lighthouse Noordpunt: A 5-kilometer loop that starts at Cliff Villa Peninsula. The route takes you along a dirt road through the cacti and wild wabi in Watamula and up the hill to Lighthouse Noordpunt. The Noordpunt Lighthouse offers stunning views of the rugged northern coastline of Curaçao, which is known for its rocky cliffs and crashing waves. It is particularly beautiful in the morning at sunrise. (The lighthouse was built in 1884 and was used to help guide ships around the northern tip of Curaçao. It was in operation for many years before being decommissioned in 1963.)

Cliff Villa to Watamula Hole & Playa Gipy: A 5-kilometer loop that starts at Cliff Villa Peninsula to Watamula. The hole is about 10 meters (33 feet) in diameter and drops down more than 60 meters (200 feet) into the water below - don’t slip. Just down a path from the hole is a secluded cove called Playa Gipy, surrounded by cliffs and cacti, and can only be accessed by a rocky dirt road. It is beautiful and a great place to rest after a run.

Cliff Villa to Shete Boka National Park: This 7-kilometer route (one way) starts in at the Cliff Villa Peninsula and takes you to the Shete Boka National Park. The route passes several scenic viewpoints and includes some challenging uphill sections.

Knip Beach Loop: A 5-kilometer loop that starts at Playa Kenepa Grandi (Knip Beach). The route takes you along the coast, passing Playa Kenepa Chiki (Small Knip Beach) and several scenic viewpoints. The loop includes some moderate uphill sections and offers stunning views of the ocean and surrounding hills.

Christoffel National Park Trail: Although far, it is worth it. The park offers several trails for jogging, ranging from easy to challenging. The park is home to Mount Christoffel, the highest point on the island, and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
